2001 Volvo S60 Motor Mounts

The 2001 Volvo S60 has 5 motor mounts to suppurt the engine to the frame and transmission. The engine mount was created to cushion the engine from the chassis and the chassis from the engine. High revolution engines have a lot of torque so they can twist and move unless anchored in place by multiple engine mounts. Volvo motor mounts are usually made of rubber and steel but newer model mounts are sometimes liquid filled to provide even more shock resistance. The rubber and/or liquid absorbs the shock and limits the effect the engine has on the chassis and vise versa.

Common signs you need to replace your Volvo motor mounts are:

Vibration, Visual inspection and the engine moves or twist too much, noise from parts touching due to too much engine movement, liquid mounts can leak so look for fluid leakage around mounts, knocking noise, transmission noise, low engine performance due to loss of torque.
