Volvo Air Filters

If you are to tell the difference of a Volvo vehicle compared to other automobiles, it would be the performance. Volvo models are characterized with a very classy look. Apart from their distinctive sophistication, Volvo autos are also designed for efficient performance. The key to their greatness lies not only within their engine but as well as in the components close to the engine, the air filter for instance. Volvo air filters function like the usual air filter. Their only difference is that they are extra resistant to all kinds of dirt. Cleaner air means fresher supply of air to the engine. And since the air filter strains dust and all kinds of dirt, it is natural for it to get grimy after a time. And the grimier the air filter gets, the more inefficient it becomes. To prevent the cropping up of problems because of a defective Volvo air filter, secure a more efficient replacement filter.

The air that enters the intake system is contaminated with all kinds of dirt. This dirt will most likely cling to different components and cause damages in them. Good thing there is the air filter to strain the air before it gets into the vehicle’s internal sections. However, in time, the air filter must also be replaced because as it operates longer, its quality diminishes, making it very frail and ineffective. Among Volvo models, it would be best to look for Volvo Air Filters that fit the requirements set on the vehicles.

The engine is a breathing mechanism – it needs air to function. Without air, the chemical energy of the fuel cannot be converted into useful mechanical energy. Igniting the fuel is impossible without air. Oxygen in the air and fuel must chemically combine to produce thermal energy. This thermal energy is released by breaking the molecular bonds of the hydrocarbon fuel. Oxygen breaks these bonds. The chemical reaction between the fuel and oxygen is explosive in nature. This explosion creates gas pressure inside the cylinders which pushes the pistons. The up and down motions of the pistons are then translated into rotational motion by the crankshaft. This rotational motion is now what is termed as torque. However, there are several factors to consider in achieving maximum torque. The quality of air is one important factor to be considered. Hence, air filter is necessary in an automobile.

Basically, the function of an air filter is to remove contaminants in the air such as dust, pollen, mold, bacteria and other particulates. These contaminants affect the efficient combustion of fuel. There are two types of air filter in an automobile. The first type of filter is the combustion air filter which prevents particulates from entering the combustion chamber of the engine. This type of filter is periodically changed every time the oil of the automobile is replaced. The second type of air filter is the cabin air filter which prevents particulates from entering the cabin via the air conditioning or ventilation system of the vehicle.

A typical Volvo air filter is constructed out of cellulose (paper) materials. The filtering material is enclosed in a protective container. The filter is connected to the throttle body via a large hose. When it is time to replace the air filter of your vehicle, it is more convenient to order it online. All it may take is a few clicks of the mouse button.
