Volvo Chassis codes
Sometimes we will ask you for a "Volvo Chassis Code", this is not to be confused with the VIN# which is sometimes called a chassis number. Some common parts that require a chassis code are Volvo shocks, struts, springs, tie rods, suspension & steering parts. The chassis code can be found on the drivers side (left) fender on on the engine firewall. Usually there will be a silver metal plate that has a table or boxes and each box may have letters and numbers. We will need the number/letters in the bottom, right box.
Here is an illustration of a typical ID plate with box highlighted in pink.

Volvo Headlights
Volvo's have 3-4 different types of headlights. A standard headlamp is called a Halogen headlight and is not as bright as the other 3 classes. Brighter Volvo headlights are known by several names including: Xenon, GDL, Gas Discharge & H.I.D.. Xenon lights are brighter and are usually a lot more expensive due to the extra parts and expensive materials require to manufacture them. Variations of Xenon lights include Bi-xenon which means both the low & high beam bulbs are brighter vs. just the low beam bulb on Xenon lights. Active Xenon head lights are Xenon headlights that actually turn as the vehicle turns which improves visibility in corners. Halogen headlamps have inexpensive bulbs called H7 & H11 but Xenon headlight bulbs are usually 4 times more expensive. Common Xenon headlight bulbs are D2R (xenon or bi-xenon) & D1S (active xenon).
A common issue with 1999-2005 Volvo S60, S80, V70 & XC70 models. It is very common to have issues with early bulb failure due to bad wiring. If you replace your Volvo’s headlight bulb too often or if your headlights don’t work even after replacing the headlight bulb then it is probably the wiring that connects to the bulb. There is an easy fix. We developed a wiring harness repair kit for the models mentioned above.
For 1999-03 (most models) with H7 Headlamp bulb use part # 30652028
For 2003-06 (most models) with H11 Headlamp bulb use part# 31294092
